We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Systems Engineer to lead the deployment of new servers for Bank of America in Palatine, Illinois. In this critical role, you will play a pivotal part in maintaining and enhancing the bank’s IT infrastructure by overseeing the design, setup, and management of new server deployments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Leadership: Lead the planning, design, and implementation of new server deployments in line with Bank of America’s IT standards and policies.
- Infrastructure Design: Collaborate with the infrastructure team to design server configurations that meet the bank’s performance, security, and compliance requirements.
- Hardware and Software Procurement: Coordinate the procurement of server hardware and software, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget constraints.
- Deployment and Configuration: Install, configure, and optimize new servers, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security.
- Performance Optimization: Monitor server performance and make necessary adjustments to maintain optimal functionality.
- Security Compliance: Ensure all new servers are configured and hardened in compliance with industry and regulatory security standards.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of server configurations, deployment procedures, and change management records.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including network engineers, security specialists, and database administrators, to achieve project goals.
- Technical Support: Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and issue resolution for server-related problems.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in server deployment, configuration, and maintenance, preferably within the banking or financial industry.
- Proficiency in server virtualization, cloud technologies, and server operating systems.
- Strong knowledge of server hardware, RAID configurations, and data center best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Industry certifications (e.g., MCSE, VMware VCP, or equivalent) is a plus.
